STEP BY STEP THERAPY : HEALING SPACES FOR OCD
- architecture
The rehabilitation center for young people in Kemerburgaz is designed as a therapeutic environment that supports the gradual treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). The architectural approach prioritizes calm, orderly, and clean spaces to create a serene atmosphere that reduces anxiety and prepares users for therapy. Initial treatment stages include psychological assessment rooms and spaces for cognitive interventions, fostering relaxation and awareness. Subsequent stages integrate exposure therapy in a controlled and individualized manner, utilizing workshops and activities like ceramics to build tolerance and confidence. The design incorporates relaxation areas such as meditation rooms, breathing exercise spaces, and nature walks, which serve as transitional environments to support users in managing their anxiety. Social integration is encouraged through shared activities, seminars, and public presentations of user-created works, progressively increasing interaction and exposure. By combining therapeutic techniques with spatial design, the center facilitates a safe and supportive journey toward recovery and reintegration into social life..
