This module aims to understand and intervene in a historic district of Istanbul, Karaköy–Perşembe Pazarı, which is a complex urban fabric shaped by overlapping spatial, temporal, and systemic layers. Rather than focusing on dominant visible urban structures, the module asks you to investigate existing systems that are embedded within the everyday life of the area. These systems may be infrastructural or mundane but they often hold hidden situations.
The installation will be placed on a specific site within Karaköy–Perşembe Pazarı and should be closely interrelated with its surroundings. It is expected to directly respond to the situation you have revealed through mapping. The installation should act as an interface that emphasizes, amplifies, or rearticulates the concealed condition within its existing context. It may alter perception, intensify an existing spatial relationship, or make an embedded condition present through bodily engagement, materiality, and scale.
