Feeling the Pulse of the City: Death and Disease in Istanbul
- workshops
Today, death and disease are often seen as distant, clinical concepts, reduced to statistics through tools like maps and photographs. However, in the past, they were integral to the city's everyday life, shaping its atmosphere and spaces. This workshop began with a discussion on how death and disease have been visualized, followed by a hands-on session where participants explored how these themes are connected to the spaces and environments where their effects are most deeply experienced. By focusing on the lived experience of health from a historical perspective, we rediscovered how these once-familiar concepts have become disconnected from modern urban life.
