Bug(ies): Bodies in Motion, Forces in Relation

  • interiorarchitecture

Bugs and their bodies combine complex surfaces, textured shells, segmented forms, and highly fascinating motion mechanisms. Rather than looking at insects as mere visual models, this module invites you to study them as systems of forces, surfaces, and movements. By starting from one of the smallest non-human actors in our environment, we have uncovered new ways of thinking about bodily structures and body–environment relations.
The outcome of this module is a collection of case cards, collages, 2D patterns, 3D fragments, and a joint prototype, displayed as a continuous chain of observations and design translations. By the end, you will have learned to transform natural structures into design ideas that expand your skills in composition, balance, rhythm, and unity, while cultivating an experimental and critical approach to form-making.
