ADAPTIVE RE-USE DESIGN OF AN INDUSTRIAL BUILDING INTO A FINE ART HIGH SCHOOL

The project will be the re-use design of Kadir Has university building into an educational building for a fine art high school with four departments: Music, Painting, Theatre and Dance.The building is partially to be converted into a ‘performative education venue’ to include a couple of small scale performance areas for the music and dance departments and a few rehearsal rooms, a recording studio, backstage area as well as a small scale gallery/ exhibition and shop area, foyer and café and restaurant. (The detailed building brief are given below yet open to interpretation and flexibilities). The students are expected to explore the relation between music, theatre, applied art and architecture; not only by metaphor but also in reality.
